Bodie Island Lighthouse: A Majestic Glow of Coastal Light (Panoramic Photo)
Bodie Island Light Station - Nags Head, NC
A PURE COASTAL LEGEND
Tucked along North Carolina’s Outer Banks, the Bodie Island Lighthouse has been a vigilant coastal guardian since 1872. Its striking black-and-white stripes soar 156 feet, sending a reliable beam across the Atlantic to steer ships safely through perilous seas.
Ready to conquer its 214 winding steps? Bodie blends historic charm with coastal allure that’s tough to beat. 🤗

And for a little extra magic, I’ve crafted a short poem inspired by Bodie’s timeless glow. It’s about being lost, and Bodie guiding me back home. 📝
From My Despair (Bodie’s Call)
—Patrick Riley (August 2025)
A clouded night blinds my eyes,
no stars to steer my course.
If not for the crashing waves,
the silence would be deafening.
The cold ocean air clings to me,
like a lost love’s fading embrace.
Is this salty taste the mist’s sting,
or my own tears’ bitter trace?
The darkness chokes my weary heart,
adrift in this endless night.
My fingers grasp the sea’s cold veil,
numb, finding no hold.
My spirit falters, poised to break,
yet grasps at fleeting hope.
Frail light flickers through the gloom,
Bodie’s glow faintly calls.
A familiar wet sand’s scent rises softly,
guiding me home at last.
