“I have loved to the point of madness; that which is called madness, that which to me, is the only sensible way to love.”
— Françoise Sagan
So… You’re Lost Too?
Welcome. You ended up here anyway… or maybe you meant to. Either way, you’re in the right place.
Lost The Path is what happens when curiosity refuses to stay in one lane. It’s part greenhouse journal, part iPhone photography playground, part wallpaper wonderland, and a whole lot of “whatever my ADHD or BPD feels like hyperfocusing on this month.”
You’ll find me bragging about cactus victories, quietly mourning the occasional plant casualty, sharing travel shots that actually don’t suck, and turning my obsessions with the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, Van Gogh, and Nikola Tesla into wallpapers — some crafted with a little AI mischief, others straight from my own photos that still look pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself.
There’s poetry that swings between hopeful and deliciously dark, short stories, brand-new music experiments, and whatever else bubbles up when the mood strikes. I used to paint like crazy — oils, watercolors, even drawings — and funneled a ton of that energy into patrickriley.art, which is basically woven right into this site under the Art menu. I’m taking a breather from the brushes right now, but who knows… one random sunny afternoon the itch might hit again. All that art and my photography are still there if you’re hunting for something for your wall, and yeah, there are still a few pieces left.
I spent way too many years in IT, wrestling with PCs, servers, switches, routers, and all that nonsense, before I finally ditched it for the sweet relief of Macs — my lifelong passion — and a quieter life with plants. These days you’ll mostly find me out in the garden or greenhouse, happily losing track of time and wondering why I somehow ended up with way too many cacti.
And speaking of pace — this site moves at the same rhythm. Sometimes I update it like I’ve had three Red Bulls and a breakthrough. Other times it sits quietly while I recharge, get distracted, or just exist for a bit. No guilt, no rigid schedule, just whatever feels good in the moment.
If you’re looking for something perfectly scheduled and predictable… this probably isn’t that.
But if you’re into creativity, a little chaos, and following whatever path feels interesting at the moment — you’ll fit right in.
Wander around as long as you like. Download a wallpaper, read some poetry, listen to some music, chuckle at my greenhouse experiments, or drop me a line through the contact form if something here makes you smile (or at least nod in amused recognition).
The path might be lost, but the company’s pretty decent and the succulents are surprisingly good listeners.
Glad you stopped by.
Enjoy the meander,
Patrick
